Self-Care: Make friends with your calf muscles
Self-Care tip: Make friends with your calf muscles
Here’s why: Gastrocnemius, that two-headed muscle located on top of soleus in the posterior (back) compartment of the leg, are considered your second heart because they help pump blood back up through your circulatory system when you walk. When you touch your toes, your calves get a nice stretch, and this also helps relieve tension in your lower back.
Remember: When it comes to heart health, most people think about diet, cholesterol, or cardio workouts. Keeping your calf muscles strong isn’t just about toned legs — it’s about better circulation, heart function, and long-term cardiovascular health. Pay attention to your calves!
